Engineering Program Overview

Sam Barlow High School's Engineering Program provides students with a variety of skills and knowledge related to the design and implementation process. Students will learn how to use industry standard equipment software to create scaled drawings and projects. This program provides a valuable foundation for future careers in design, architecture and engineering.

Chris Holzbach earned an AA in Mechanical Engineering from MHCC straight out of high school. He went on to work as a long term contractor at the Port of Portland, Tektronix and Intel and had the opportunity to complete special projects as a contractor for Wacker, HP, Nike, Frito-Lay. In his spare time, he taught adults AutoCAD, Microsoft products, and started a small business. In 2004, Chris began working at Sam Barlow, assisting with computers and network devices. In 2006, he began teach classes at SBHS and CAL. He returned to Sam Barlow HS full-time in 2007 and enjoys teaching Yearbook, Introductory Drafting Classes, and upper level drafting classes which focus on Architectural and Mechanical Engineering.
