Science Department
The Sam Barlow Science Department seeks to provide all students with a science foundation that is appropriate for their college and/or career goals and with the knowledge and skills that will allow them to function as responsible and contributing members of society.
The science program curriculum is based on national, state and district science standards with the expectation that students meet state benchmarks in science. A variety of science courses are offered to meet the needs of students who are required to complete three years of science in order to graduate.
Students begin in entry level science classes which include physical and biological areas of study with honors programs available. Students finish their third, fourth or possibly fifth year of science in specialized areas of upper level study.

Advanced Placement courses are available in Chemistry, Biology, and Environmental Science.
